London Calling
Our journey started in London, which was a perfect way to get acclimated to the whole Euro experience. First off, everyone speaks ENGLISH and the public transportation was easy to use. We were lucky enough to have some friends send over their Oyster cards for the Underground. We just had to add some more money to the cards, and we were ready to go all over the city.
We stayed at the Hilton Hotel next to the Tower of London, and it was THE perfect location. I HIGHLY recommend this hotel. It was right next to the underground, the Tower of London, and several shops and restaurants. Again, since we were Hilton Honors members we got free breakfast and free waters in the room.
The Tourist Spots to hit:
-The London Eye, Big Ben, Westminister —All right next to each other
-Buckingham Palace —about a mile from the spots above, you can wait around to see the changing of the guards
-Walk along the Thames River… If you are there around Christmas time then there are tons of Christmas Markets!!
-Tower of London- We got to the ticket booth as soon as it opened and we were so glad because the lines later on were outrageous. The Tower of London has the crown jewels and other neat places to see.
-Imperial War Museum-For any of you history buffs- you would love this museum! Great for a rainy day, and you could spend hours here.
-Hyde Park-During the time we went they had the “Winter Wonderland” event. It is a huge carnival-like place with Christmas Markets, rides, games, etc. We didn’t buy tickets to do the rides or games, but we enjoyed walking around at night, sipping on some Gluwein.

Food Spots:
-Cau Girl at St. Katherine’s by the water- get their mustard chicken… PHENOMENAL!
-Fish and Chips
-Hit up the Burough Market.. we got the recommendation from a friend. We had lunch here everyday. It has every food group you can think of and it is cheaper than going to a restaurant.
